MOTORBIKE lovers were in their element as dozens from across the Midlands gathered in Worcester for a special ride.

Members of the local branch of the Ducati owners club met this morning (May 6) at the Ducati dealership in Castle Street.

More than 30 Ducati riders arrived on their bikes, before posing for pictures and getting a briefing on the plan for the 'Let's Ride As One' convoy.

Worcester News:

Kevin Baker, West Midlands Ducati club's organiser, told us the ride, which left at around 9.30am, was a round trip heading out to Staffordshire.

Mr Baker said: "There are members who have come from Herefordshire and Staffordshire and all across the West Midlands.

"Ducati is asking everyone to take part in a ride in the run up to World Ducati Week being held in July.

Worcester News:

"They are trying to organise rides across the world today.

"Worcester's dealership is the main one for us, so we decided to get together here.

"We have been trying to this for years, so finally decided to do it and this will be the first ride of its kind from here."

Asked why Ducati was the bike of choice for the riders Mr Baker explained it was to do with the heritage and the care the Italian manufacturer has for the bike and its riders.

Worcester News:

"It is bit like the bike version of Ferrari," he said.

"They are not just run of the mill bikes, for us there is something a bit special about them compared to other makes."
