A MAN has died in hospital after a fire broke out in a flat in Warndon.
The fire began at a property in Randwick Drive shortly before 5pm yesterday (Thursday).
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "West Mercia Police attended a property in Worcester on Thursday 28 April following reports of a house fire.
"Officers can confirm that an 81-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to be treated for burns, but has now sadly died.
"Fire Investigators are investigating the cause of the fire, however, initial enquiries suggest it was accidental. Next of kin have been informed."
Three fire crews, two from Droitwich and one from Worcester, were alerted to the fire at 4.39pm.

The crews extinguished the flames before handing the man over to a critical incident team and an air ambulance team.
A Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham arrived at around 5pm, landing on fields near Fairfield Day Nursery, before leaving at around 6.10pm.
Police also attended the incident, with three police cars present when a Worcester News reporter arrived at the scene.
