FOUR-wheel-drive vehicles will help West Mercia Constabulary cope during the extreme weather conditions expected this weekend.
As the area prepares for predicted heavy snowfall following high winds, police are borrowing two Land Rover Discovery 4x4s from the manufacturers fleet based at Eastnor Castle, near Ledbury.
"The generous offer of two additional 4x4 vehicles from Land Rover is very welcome when we know that extreme weather is on the way," said Sgt Matt Hooley, from the operations and planning department based at Worcester Police Station.
"While we have a substantial number of four-wheel-drive vehicles across the force area, you cannot have too much of a good thing when it comes to safeguarding the community."
"The un-liveried Discoverys will be based at Malvern and Pershore - but could be used anywhere in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin.
"Land-Rover has provided vehicles in the past when bad weather was expected or - in the case of the summer flash floods - when it was not.
"Their vehicles were certainly put to good use throughout last year's emergency that affected hundreds of thousands of people."
