A MAN described as a 'neighbour from hell' has been found dead at home, prompting a court to drop all proceedings against him.

Neville Simpson of Wellington Close, Worcester, was due in court for breach of a suspended sentence but matters against him were discontinued when a probation officer revealed he was now deceased.

The 57-year-old was described as having made his neighbour's life 'a living hell' at a court hearing at Worcester Crown Court in January.

A probation officer said: "This morning I received a call from the environmental health officer to say that Mr Simpson had sadly passed."

He explained that a coroner's investigation was ongoing and that neighbours alerted police and that he was 'found at his home address'.

The probation service asked that Judge Martin Jackson formally withdraw the breach summons. Judge Jackson granted the application.

We previously reported how Simpson made threats to kill his neighbour, cut her, chop her up, burn her flat and said she would have to jump out of the window 'like 911'.

Details of the breach itself were not disclosed in open court. However, the original sentence came after he admitted putting a person in fear of violence by harassment between August 1, 2019 and April 10, 2020.

Judge Burbidge sentenced him to nine months in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered him to complete 100 hours of unpaid work. Simpson also had to pay costs of £300 within eight months.

A five year restraining order prevented him having any contact, directly or indirectly, with his victim or from publishing any material that relates to her.

A further count against Simpson was allowed to lie on file.
