An elderly man was taken to hospital after a flat fire in Worcester.
The fire began at a property in Randwick Drive, Warndon, shortly before 5pm yesterday.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has now confirmed that a man in his 80s was taken to hospital after the blaze.
Three crews, two from Droitwich and one from Worcester, were alerted to the fire at 4:39pm.
The crews extinguished the flames before handing the man over to a critical incident team and an air ambulance team.
West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed that the man "suffered serious injuries in the incident".
He received specialist trauma care before being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by land ambulance.
A Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham arrived at around 5pm, landing on fields near Fairfield Day Nursery, before leaving at around 6:10pm.
Police also attended the incident, with three police cars present when a Worcester News reporter arrived at the scene.
