A 23-year-old drug dealer who broke a man's jaw was sniffed out after he brazenly smoked a spliff right outside a police meeting.

Frank Crocker of Lowesmoor was found smoking a spliff down an alleyway in Worcester but officers followed their noses and made the arrest.

Crocker admitted possession of cannabis when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester on Thursday.

However, as previously reported, Crocker faces more serious charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a female victim and possession of cannabis with intent to supply which are now before the crown court.

He admitted these offences at Worcester Crown Court on Monday but his sentence has been adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report by the probation service. He is next scheduled to appear for sentence on May 24.

We have previously reported how Crocker was jailed for 10 months after he broke a man's jaw in two places and attacked his friend outside the Worcester Arms pub in London Road on November 1, 2020.

Crocker admitted GBH and ABH in relation to these attacks. One victim had to have three metal plates and a temporary wire inserted into his jaw.

Crocker was found with the single rolled smoke on February 25.

Holly Sims, prosecuting, said: "This relates to simple possession of a cannabis spliff found on the defendant."

Officers had been attending a PACT meeting. "In leaving, they could smell a strong smell of cannabis coming from an alleyway," said Miss Sims.

The spliff was worth about £5.

"The defendant is on bail from the crown court for possession with intent to supply a class B drug" said Miss Sims.

Crocker, who represented himself at the hearing, said: "I'm working closely with my probation officer to stop smoking. It's an ongoing thing."

A probation officer confirmed he was fully complying with the terms of his licence and that he was in fulltime work.

There were also no reports of him being 'a bad tenant' at his existing address, she said.

"Due to impending court cases, he is at risk of losing his accommodation" the probation officer told the court.

Magistrates gave him credit for pleading guilty at the first available opportunity. Crocker was fined £50 and ordered to pay costs of £50 and a victim surcharge of £34.

The bench also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the cannabis joint seized.
