A SELF-TAUGHT cake maker is opening a new shop in the city centre.
Ben Thatcher has been making cakes since the age of 13 and is opening a new shop on All Saints Road, Worcester.
Bon Sucrèe will have a contemporary and rustic look and is expected to open the first weekend in May.
Mr Thatcher, from Worcester, says he enjoyed cooking from a young age and also sells flavoured candy floss.
The 38-year-old said: "I have always drifted towards the patisserie part of the kitchen.
"I enjoy making British cakes the most, like cheesecakes. I specialise in individual little cakes that are the size of a mug.
"I have done some quite elaborate wedding cakes. I did a four-tier superhero wedding cake.
"The first tier was Captain America, then Iron Man, followed by Spiderman and the Hulk punching through the top."
Mr Thatcher revealed that he likes experimenting with different flavours and has created a spinach cake that has intrigued many cake lovers.
He said: "The spinach cake has a vanilla cheesecake filling and fresh berries. People keep going on about carrot cake, and beetroot cake.
"People like it when they get over the fear of it, it's no different to a matcha cake."
Mr Thatcher said that he enjoys making fresh and tasty cakes instead of creating cakes that will go viral on social media.
"I make fresh tasty cakes, I try to make the cakes and decorate them on the day. I want people to sit and enjoy my cakes, rather than putting them on social media.
"Everything I do is self-taught and my cakes are my own recipes.
"Customers have been coming to me for 7/8 years.
"I work on the flavours and get the flavours exactly what I want."
Many Facebook users are excited about the new cake shop and have been sharing their appreciation for the cakes online. One commenter said: "Wow! These cakes are phenomenal Ben."
