FIFTY years ago today John and Jean Clarke walked down the aisle of St John in Bedwardine Church, St John's, Worcester.
Now, as they celebrate their golden wedding, the couple are looking back at all the good times.
"The years have gone so fast," said 70 year old Mrs Clarke, a former accountant for Worcester firm of HA Saunders. The couple, of Comer Road, St John's, met through friends.
Mrs Clarke said: "We used to meet up when I was with my friends and he was with a gang of lads.
"We would always end up at the same place. If I went to the old Gaumont cinema in Foregate Street, you could guarantee that he'd be sat behind or in front of us."
Mr Clarke, aged 75, who served with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during his two years' national service with the Army and worked at Carmichael Ltd for more then 40 years before retiring, said he knew his wife was the one for him even before they were introduced.
Mrs Clarke said: "Life's too short to argue, but if we do, we always put things right before going to bed."
Tonight, they will be celebrating with their children - Susan, 48, Linda, 45, and Tim, 42. Tomorrow 60 guests will be attending a party in honour of the couple at the Bell Inn, St John's.
