BEER fans will be able to fill their tankers once again when a popular festival returns to Worcester later this year.

Worcester's Oktoberfest will be returning later this year after over 250,000 people attended last year.

The Worcester Warriors Rugby Club is set to be transformed into an authentic German Oktoberfest experience.

The festival will feature live Oompah bands, authentic German beer and traditional Germanic foods such as Bratwurst.

There is also a selection of wine, spirits, prosecco and soft drinks on offer for non-beer drinkers attending the event.

The festival was held in 2017, 2018,2019 and again in 2021.

Due to the effects of the pandemic, the 2020 festivities were cancelled, and any tickets that were purchased were honoured for last year's festival.

The organisers of the Worcester Beer Festival said this year's event is no longer going ahead after a suitable venue could not be found earlier this month.

Organisers revealed they had been having meetings with Worcester Racecourse but had to take the decision not to run the festival in 2022.

It is not gone for good though with organisers stating that they were hard at work finding a venue for its 21st anniversary next year.

The popular event usually attracts thousands of people from around the country to Worcester to sample the beer, ciders and perries.

Every year thousands of beer and cider lovers travel to Pitchcroft to sample some of the finest locally-sourced drinks.

In 2019, around 8,500 people were expected to attend, enjoying 303 beers and 170 ciders.
