A concert for Ukraine is coming to a village near Worcester, following two sold-out shows in Pershore.
Musical directors Paula Evans and Chris Long were quick to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, creating two shows at Pershore Abbey with the help of their ensembles.
The concert in early March raised more than £7,000 for the international Red Cross and now the pair are hoping to keep that momentum going with the next show, to be in Callow Great Hall at Stanbrook Abbey, in Callow End.
Ms Evans said: “'We have given several concerts in this beautiful space previously and are really excited to be returning with more of our singers.
“Our recent fundraising concerts which were held in Pershore Abbey, sold out in 48 hours and have raised over £7000 to date - we would dearly love to maximise the amount of money we can raises in support of Ukraine.”
Vocal High and Excelsa Voces will bring a new programme of music for the next show, titled Voice for Ukraine.
Excelsa Voces are a quintet of female voices specialising in medieval and contemporary music while Vocal High is a dynamic group of 40 singers from around the county.
The two groups have notched up a range of high-profile concerts in unusual locations across the six years of their existence.
The first Pershore show sold out within a matter of days, with Mrs Evans and Mr Long playing a key role in the performance on the night.
Ms Evans added: “People can expect to be immersed in a wide range of music from different cultures and styles, not only vocal music but also with Kamenchek (traditional Iranian instrument), piano, guitar and accordion.
“We aim to create a candle-lit sound-bath of fabulous, moving and enchanting music and voices, in the amazing setting of Callow Great Hall - we can't wait!”
Tickets for the Stanbrook Abbey concert are £10 and can be purchased from ‘Blue’ on Broad Street, Pershore, or online at www.vocalhigh.com.
All profits from the event will go to the British Red Cross
