A NEW mayor and deputy will take up office in a Worcestershire town next week after being voted in.
Cllr Shirley Dobbin will take over as mayor of Upton Upon Severn officially next week (April 26).
She takes over from current mayor Cllr Henrietta Ross, who has been mayor since 2019.
Also confirmed was the new deputy mayor Cllr Mike Morgan, with previous deputy Cllr Dobbin moving up to the mayor's position.
The pair were elected at a full meeting of Upton Upon Severn Town Council on April 19.
There was unanimous support for Cllr Dobbin and Cllr Morgan, who will officially take over at the annual town meeting on April 26.
Held at the Memorial Hall, opposite the Co-op, residents can attend and meet their town councillors, ask them questions and find out more about the town council and its role.
Representatives from other town organisations and groups will also be in attendance including from several of the town's festivals.
Anyone is welcome to attend the event, which starts at 7.30pm and includes free tea, coffee and biscuits served from 7pm.
