THREE Rottweilers that were removed from a property in Egdon after a toddler died from injuries related to a dog attack have been put to sleep.

The two-year-old sustained serious injuries at his home in Egdon on Monday, March 28 and was in cardiac arrest.

The dogs were previously being securely housed by West Mercia police after the incident whilst investigations were ongoing.

His family began to transport him to the hospital themselves but stopped at Worcester Countryside Centre en-route on the advice of the ambulance service.

He was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital before being transferred to Birmingham Children's Hospital the same day.

West Mercia police announced the boy had died from his injuries in a statement issued on Wednesday, March 30, outside of the station in Worcester, on Castle Street.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "I can confirm that the three dogs which were seized as part of the investigation into the dog attack in Egdon have now been put to sleep.

"Other than that there are no updates at the moment. There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing."
