OUR revelation today that the battle to save the ambulance control centre at Bransford is far from over is fantastic news for the thousands of our readers who protested against plans for its closure.

This newspaper campaigned long and hard against the West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS trust's proposals to close the control rooms at Bransford and Shrewsbury and create two call centres in Brierley Hill and Stafford with a support centre in Leamington Spa.

More than 2,000 of you, our readers, backed our campaign but your views were dismissed as one response in the trust's consultation' process.

The consultation only offered the trust's closure proposal as an item for discussion and we were told the status quo was not an option.

Alternative proposals from a number of sources, including MPs, parliamentary candidates and staff at Bransford were rejected by the trust.

That is why we welcome news that a legal letter is being served on the trust this morning that is likely to lead to a judicial review in the High Court.

We are sure the trust believed this matter was over and done with.

Far from it. There is substantial opposition to its plans - both here and in Shropshire - and protesters are in this fight for the long haul.

Now we hope those who have seen through the trust sham of a public consultation get their day in court.
