WORCESTERSHIRE may not be hosting any major competitive cycling events this year, but there’s plenty to see in the wider region.

The Women’s Tour: June 6-11

On Wednesday, June 8, the third stage of the Women’s Tour will take place in Gloucestershire. The 107.9km-long race starts in Tewkesbury before heading into the Forest of Dean and finishing at Gloucester Docks.

Commonwealth Games: July 28-August 8

At the Commonwealth Games three of the four cycle sport competitions will be hosted in the West Midlands. The Track Races will be held at the Olympic Velodrome in London.

On Wednesday, August 3, the Women’s and Men’s Cross-Country Mountain Biking will take place on a course in Birches Valley on Cannock Chase, Rugeley.

You’ll need a ticket to get into the spectator area at the start/finish. It's free to watch on other parts of the course.

On Thursday, August 4, both the Women’s and Men’s Individual Time Trial will start and finish in West Park, Wolverhampton.

You’ll need a ticket to get into West Park, but it's free to watch all the riders as they race against the clock around 29km and 37km courses that head as far south as Dudley Castle before returning to Wolverhampton.

On Sunday, August 7, the Women’s and Men’s Road Races will be held on a 16km course starting and finishing in St Nicholas Park, Warwick.

The men’s race will complete ten laps of the course. The women riders will cover seven laps. You’ll need a ticket to get into St Nicholas Park, but it will be free to watch both races from other points on the route.

Tour of Britain: September 4-11

On Friday, September 9, Gloucestershire hosts Stage 6 of The Tour of Britain.

As with the Women’s Tour the start will be in Tewkesbury and the finish in Gloucester. From Tewkesbury the 169km route heads east to Winchcombe before heading south through the Cotswolds to Yate and then back to Gloucester.

Both the Tour of Britain and Women’s Tour will be screened live on ITV4 with highlights shown each evening.
