WEST Mercia Police has released a statement following the death of a man at a charity boxing match in a city nightclub.
Police said they are not investigating the death of a man in his 20s but were called to Tramps nightclub on Saturday evening (April 9).
The man had taken part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing event which raised money for Cancer Research UK.
Paramedics battled to save the man who was suffering "serious injuries" at the scene and took him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he died.
We understand the man had taken part in a boxing match before collapsing in the ring.
In a statemen, West Mercia Police said: "Around 7.50pm on Saturday (April 9) officers received a report concerned for the welfare of a man at a business premises on Angel Place, Worcester.
"Officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended.
"A man in his 20s was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham in a serious condition."
The police spokesperson added there were "no ongoing enquiries" into the death.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said in an earlier statement: "We were called at 7.46pm to reports of an incident on Angel Place, Worcester.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a Critical Care Car from the Air Ambulance Service and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene.
"Upon arrival, we found a man who had sustained serious injuries. He received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene."
Organisers and charity offer condolences to man who died
Organisers Ultra White Collar Boxing and charity Cancer Research UK, which benefitted from the boxer's fundraising, have both offered their condolences to the family of the man who died.
Simon Ledsham, fundraising director at Cancer Research UK, offered deepest condolences to the man's family on behalf of the charity.

He said: “We send our sincerest condolences to the family of the man who tragically died in hospital."
A spokesperson for Ultra White Collar Boxing said: “Everyone at Ultra White Collar Boxing was devastated to hear of the tragic death of this young man.
"Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends at this very sad time."
