A GIRL Guide is celebrating after being chosen for the adventure of a lifetime.
Ashlea Gormley was thrilled to be among eight Worcester Guides selected for a Jail Break challenge, which will take her to Scotland, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Norway.
However, the 15-year-old young leader from the Sixth Worcester group needs to raise £950 for July's trip.
"I was ecstatic and really, really happy when I heard I had been chosen," said the Bishop Perowne CE College pupil, of Kingston Avenue, Perdiswell, Worcester.
"I just think it will be a once in a lifetime experience. We are going to see Santa in Lapland so that's going to be quite good."
The Guides, who have been selected from across the country following a weekend camp in Malvern, will be expected to carry out a challenge in each country over the two-week trip, from having their photo taken with a police officer to attending a fete or gala.
"She's very excited," said Ashlea's mum Pauline.
Ashlea has already raised £300 towards her trip, including £100 from a cake sale and £50 from her Guide unit. Tonight she is set to hold a fund-raising quiz night at the Perdiswell pub, Droitwich Road, Worcester, from 8pm. It will cost £2 per person, with the chance to win the top prize of £50.
Anyone who wants to help Ashlea can call her mother on 01905 458337 or 07766 522957.
