A CHARITY which offers a low-cost transport service to disabled and elderly people in the Malvern area is applying for a £10,000 grant to keep it going for the next financial year.
Malvern Dial-a-Ride has been operating since October 1999 and is run by Hereford-based charity the Plynlimon Trust on a non-profit-making basis.
Users are given low-cost door-to-door transport to the hospital, doctor, dentist, optician, day centres, shops or to visit friends and the dial-a-ride minibuses are specially designed for wheelchair access.
The organisation has received a £10,000 grant from Malvern Town Council over the past three years and members of the council's finance and administration committee, who meet tonight, will consider the latest application for £10,000 during 2008/09.
The organisation also occupies a room at the town council's cemetery Lodge free of charge.
