THE owners of a restaurant coming to Worcester have confirmed when they are hoping to open.
Smoked n Loaded, a BBQ restaurant opening in what was Spice Cuisine, St John's, wants to open in May.
This is according to restaurant owner Mark Cookson, who said, although an exact date has yet to be confirmed, they are hoping to welcome in diners around May 20 this year.
He said: "As yet we don’t have an exact date for opening, but it will be around May 20."
Signs went up in the restaurant window in Bromyard Terrace advertising for new jobs.
The sign said it would be selling pork belly, beef brisket, ribs, wings, loaded burgers and loaded fries.
At the time, St John's councillor Richard Udall welcomed the news, saying it would bring new trade and jobs to the area.
He said: "I’m pleased that the empty unit is being filled.
"I have recently received multiple enquiries from retailers and food establishments seeking premises in St John’s.
"The area is attracting new businesses and hopefully new trade.
"We need specialist establishments like this which will attract extra footfall to St John’s.
"I wish them every success and I’m looking forward to sampling their menu."
The new business comes as a boost to St John's, with residents facing the closure of the Co-Op supermarket.
Gladman Retirement Living, under Adlington Retirement Living, plan to transform the supermarket building into a retirement village.
The company wants to use the site as the basis for a 24-bed retirement home, with Cllr Udall pushing for some retail element to be retained in the future.
Smoked n Loaded is the latest in a number of new food outlets opening in the city.
Earlier this month, Egg Free Cake Box opened in Broad Street.
