A MANAGING director has been banned from driving after he was caught speeding on a notorious Worcestershire road.
Raymond Willden was clocked in his BMW X3 at 87mph in a 50mph zone near Ombersley on the A449.
The 41-year-old, of Laugherne Road, St John's, Worcester, was given a 28 day driving ban at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday.
Willden was given the ban because he was doing 30mph in excess of the set speed limit on the road.
He admitted the offence which happened on August 27, and was fined £300.
Willden said: "I just really want to apologise for wasting your time and for committing the offence. I clearly did it.
"I'm very embarrassed and quite ashamed of myself. I knew the camera was there. I was clearly not concentrating."
- The A449 has been the scene of many serious accidents over recent years. In December 2006 four young people died when their car hit a tree between Ombersley and Worcester.
Earlier this year a coroner ruled that excessive speed was the sole reason behind the accident which cut the victims' lives short.
Meanwhile two digital speed cameras have been installed close to the scene - a 70mph stretch of dual carriageway - in a bid to slow traffic.
The move has had a mixed response from drivers.
