A TALENTED former Worcester pupil is returning to her old school to star in a forthcoming production.

Katie Hawcutt, who left Bishop Perowne CE College in 2005, is now in her first year at Leeds College of Music. She is bringing five other top musicians from the college to play in Sweet Charity, Bishop Perowne's latest musical production, as well as giving workshops and masterclasses to students during the week of the musical production.

Steve Tommey, advanced skills music teacher at Bishop Perowne and in Worcestershire, said: "I am absolutely thrilled that Katie and her colleagues are joining us for this year's production. The very talented cast have been rehearsing very hard and this is the icing on the cake.

"Anyone who was lucky enough to have seen the college's recent highly acclaimed musical productions of Les Miserables and Little Shop of Horrors will know that this new production of Sweet Charity will be a must-See."

Sweet Charity tells the story of an optimistic young woman, Charity, who not only wears her heart on her sleeve, she's had it tattooed on to her arm. He said: "Charity finds herself dumped by the married man on whom she had pinned all her hopes and dreams, and she vows never again to be taken advantage of by men. But Charity is too trusting and soon finds herself involved with an Italian movie star."

The actor, however, is no better than the other men Charity has dated, and once again she finds herself jilted and alone.

The next night, however, as fate would have it, she finds herself trapped in a lift with a claustrophobic tax accountant who soon sweeps Charity off her feet.

Soon it becomes clear that this man is different, that he actually wants to marry her, but will he still feel the same way when he finds out that Charity works at the Fan-Dango as a dance hall hostess?"

The show takes place in the college theatre on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 27, 28, and 29, and Saturday, March 1.

Tickets have gone on sale and can be bought by ringing the school on 01905 746800.
