DRONES has been put forward as a possible explanation for a mystery noise plaguing the residents of Warndon Villages.

We previously reported residents on the estate had taken to social media to complain about a "loud humming" noise.

They described it as "annoying", especially for those trying to sleep.

Andy Roberts, Worcestershire County councillor for the area, investigated the issue drones began being suggested as the cause of the problem.

Cllr Roberts said: "A lady told me by email, after reading the article in the Worcester News regarding the noise that some people heard, 'l was woken and looking out my window l saw lights in the sky, l think it was a drone of some kind'.

"Others have said the same thing on social media.

"We are going to be keeping an ear and eye open, see if there are anymore drone events happening.

"I don't know how we stop it. I can understand people flying them and having fun in the day time, but not at night and in the early hours - why would you want to?"

Worcester News:

One resident, who did not want to be named, previously told us: "It was a constant hum going on for hours.

"Very odd, it was certainly a man-made noise. It definitely wasn’t a vehicle of any sort unless workmen on a road somewhere were using some sort of equipment."

Some other theories for the noise was that it either workmen, a generator, or a corn dryer - as this was previously a noise heard by residents on the estate.

But Cllr Roberts said drones now looked the most likely explanation.

The councillor encouraged residents who hear the noise to make a note and report it to Worcestershire Regulatory Services which investigates sound issues.

If possible he also suggested filming a drone if one is spotted.

A year ago we reported on another loud bass noise residents of the estate said had vibrated through their houses.

After the councillor carried out investigations, he found it to be man driving a vehicle blasting out a lot of noise from a massive stereo system and, after speaking to him, Cllr Roberts managed to get the noise stopped.
