ALMOST all of the 7,000 homes and businesses in Malvern left without electricity this morning have got their power back on.

Central Networks was forced to turn the electricity supply off to 6,942 people after engineers discovered a serious fault with an end box on an overhead power line about 11.20am.

However, that number was whittled down to 242 within 30 minutes of discovering the problem and just four customers are still without power.

Spokesman Andrew Barry said: "We put the last 238 back on about 1.40pm. It is down to four customers now."

He said engineers were working hard at a sub station to get them back on as soon as possible, and apologised to all who had been affected.
