NEW free fitness sessions for cancer patients are being set up in Worcester.

The Battle Cancer Program sessions. being held at Solv CrossFit, begins on Monday, March 28.

The sessions last 12 weeks and are designed to build strength and fitness post treatment.

The sessions consist of two, one hour classes per week and are completely free to adults who have completed treatment at least two months prior to the start date.

Classes are being led by coach Sarah Coldicott, who has worked with cancer patients since graduating over 30 years ago.

"I have seen first hand the benefits and side effects of cancer treatment," the coach said.

"I am excited to be involved in the delivery of the Battle Cancer program and having the opportunity to help improve the health and well being of cancer survivors outside of my usual working environment.

"When I first found the courage to walk through the door at Solv I was overweight, unfit and feeling rather old. With the help, encouragement and support of my coaches and the CrossFit community I am now healthier than I have ever been.

"I enjoyed CrossFit so much, I encouraged my family to join me and now train alongside my adult children.

"I am going to enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with others and repaying some of the kindness shown to me by helping to provide a supportive environment for individuals to improve their physical and mental health whilst enjoying the community spirit of training as a group. "
