A candle-lit vigil will be held in Cathedral Square for the people of Ukraine this week.
The event, held on Thursday at 7pm, is to show support and solidarity with Ukraine as they continue to fight back against the Russian invasion.
Worcester City Council has encouraged people to bring their own candles to the event, with some also being provided in Cathedral Square.
A joint statement has been issued from the Council’s four political group leaders, Conservative Cllr Marc Bayliss, Labour’s Cllr Adrian Gregson, Green Cllr Louis Stephen, and Liberal Democrat Cllr Mel Allcott.
The leaders said: “There can be no one in Worcester who is unmoved by the plight of Ukraine at this terrible time.
"Our city and county are home to a strong and proud Eastern European population and we know that they will stand with us when we say that our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine.
“Many refugees from this conflict will make their way to the UK under the government’s programme, and we look forward to welcoming some of them to Worcester.”
The event will take place in Cathedral Square for 30 minutes from 7pm, with anyone welcome to attend.
The Guildhall is currently being lit in blue and yellow every evening in another show of solidarity.

The flag of Ukraine is also being flown at the University of Worcester, at both the St John’s Campus and at the Art House.
The Knife Angel, the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, is currently being hosted in Cathedral Square, alongside a Ukrainian flag.
