A drunk man who smashed the window of a Chinese takeaway has offered to pay for the damage.
Staff at Chung Ying, on London Road, caught the man on CCTV punch the front window of the restaurant after being kicked out of a nearby pub.
The man has since called up the takeaway to apologise and offer to pay for the damages, claiming he was too drunk to remember what had happened.
A staff member at the takeaway said: “A local got very drunk last night and punched into our glass window.
“We caught him on CCTV and he was kicked out from the pub next door and decided to take out his anger on our window.
“We know who he is, and he has called up to apologise, saying he doesn't remember a thing and will pay for the damages.
“We have also contacted the police so hopefully it will get sorted out soon.
“We would like to say thanks to our customers who notified us of the damage, helped us with the repair and getting the contact details of the person.”

They added that they are now waiting to find out how much the repairs will cost and have said that if the man is willing to pay, then they will deal with the matter themselves.
