A Worcester distillery has produced hand-painted bottles of British vodka to show solidarity with Ukraine.
Piston Distillery has painted Ukrainian flags by hand on bottles of its signature distilled vodka and says all proceeds will go to support the people of Ukraine.
Lisa Nicholls, customer relations manager at the Severn Street-based distillery, said: “It’s just a small gesture of solidarity but at least we feel we are doing something.
“The vodka is nine-times distilled here at the Worcester distillery, based in the old painting house of the porcelain factory.
“Everything in its production is British. The grain alcohol comes from Joseph Mills, a British supplier, the bottle is made in Yorkshire and the top is produced in Bromsgrove.”
Proceeds from the limited edition bottle will be donated to UNICEF’s Ukraine appeal.
In a cheeky message announcing the campaign on Facebook, the distillery said it "Never liked Russian vodka anyway".
Best known for its Piston Gin, the distillery was quick to do its bit to help as the UK went into the first Covid lockdown in March 2020.
It joined other alcohol makers by producing 1,000 litres a week of its own hand sanitiser, a product that was in high demand at the time.
More recently, Piston Distillery teamed up with Webbs of Wychbold to create a gin made entirely from ingredients grown at the garden centre.
