WORK to bring a popular adventure golf venue to the city centre is set to start imminently, it has been revealed.
Mr Mulligans will open in a large empty unit in Worcester High Street after being handed a late-night alcohol licence by the city council.
Bosses say work will begin “in the near future” ahead of the summer holidays with a grand opening date still to be confirmed.
The venue, which will boast an adventure golf course, electro-darts, pool, ping pong and a shuffleboard as well as a bar and restaurant, will take over the former DW Sports store which closed in 2020 after the company went into administration.
The new Mr Mulligans in Worcester, which will cater for families, students and adults, would add to the 12 locations already open across the country – including a spot in Birmingham.
Sophie Burke, group head of marketing at parent company Burhill Group Limited (BGL), said: “We are delighted to continue to grow the brand in new locations around the country and we are very much looking forward to being part of the wonderful community in Worcester.”
Andrew Scholey, director of operations and development at BGL, said: “Whilst our venues are first and foremost family oriented, we have seen great pick-up with adult groups in the evenings and continually improve our food and beverage offering to provide a great environment for fun on and off the course.
“Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing children as young as two pick up a putter for the first time, with a smile on their face.
“There’s no question we’re providing those children with their first steps into the game and this can only be a good thing for the wider golf industry.”
