PEOPLE are being reminded not to give out their bank details after a woman received a bogus call from someone claiming to be the RSPCA, asking her to set up a direct debit.
The woman, from Stourport, refused to make the payments because she already donates.
But, with her suspicions aroused, when she checked with the charity she was told although they do run a direct debit scheme, they do not usually telephone people.
A police spokesman said: "Residents are reminded never to give out their bank details in response to phone calls, emails or letters.
"There are many different scams, some of which are very convincing, but people should not be deceived and under no circumstances should they disclose their bank or personal details."
