THE manager of an eco-friendly cafe hit with a lowly one star food hygiene rating is confident the cafe will improve in a reinspection.
We previously reported The Fold cafe, based on the site shared with shops and a nature trial off the A4103 in Bransford, was given the rating - the second lowest - after an inspection by Worcestershire Regulatory Services (WRS) officers on January 18.
A report into the venue said inspectors found "major improvement' was necessary in the management of food safety - the category that looks at the system or checks in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.
Marino Cretu, cafe manager, said: "We immediately responded very positively and have a revisit due (this) week, and a re-rating booked as soon as the EHO can fit us in.
"The visit has helped us improve our record keeping, and we’ve worked closely with WRS to respond to their feedback.
"Our staff training has been fully refreshed, and we’re confident for a great outcome to our next visit.
"We want to thank our customers for their patience and loyalty during our Covid recovery period."
The report also said the standards in hygienic food handling were considered good. This category is focused on the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control) to enable good food hygiene.

In the category of hygienic food handling the cafe was rated as generally satisfactory. This category considers the hygienic handling of food including preparation including cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage.
The venue has joined the growing list of city one star rated food businesses which includes Age UK Worcester And District Lunch Club in Bilford Court, Lifestyle Express in Kilbury Drive, The Admiral Rodney At Berrow Green, Your’s Pizza Bite/Little India in Ronkswood Hill, AK General Foods Ltd, Happy Taste in Orchard Street and O Nosso Cafe in London Road.
