A WORCESTER charity for bereaved children has been given £1,000 by the Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club of Worcester raised the cash by collecting at its Christmas Crib, outside the Guildhall, over the festive season.
The club decided to donate the money to the Noah's Ark trust, which supports bereaved children and their families in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
Sheila Sonley, chairman of the community and vocational committee for the club, said: "We wish to thank the community for its generosity on those two Saturdays before Christmas and enabling us to collect £840.
The Rotary Club has made up the amount to £1,000, which we presented to Mary Irish on behalf of the Noah's Ark Trust.
"We feel it is appropriate that in the Christmas season the collection should be donated to a charity assisting children facing difficult circumstances."
Mrs Irish, community fundraiser for the trust, visited members of the club on Monday, January 21.
She said: "The Rotary Club of Worcester has supported Noah's Ark Trust many times over the last few years. This last Christmas we were lucky enough to be chosen for the crib collection, which we are very grateful for.
"We look forward to their help in the future." Currently, the Trust, in conjunction with the Worcester News, is running the Towards A Brighter Future Appeal to raise £1 million to buy a new home within the county.
