AN intrepid explorer is embarking on the challenge of a lifetime, trekking to the foothills of the world's highest mountain.
Alex Denny, of Upton-upon-Severn, is taking on the Everest Base Camp challenge to raise £3,000 for the County Air Ambulance.
The 40-year-old gardener and painter/decorator, explained why she chose the charity.
"A good friend of mine needed them a couple of years ago when he was attacked by a cow, " she said.
"He was in a rural area so needed someone there fast to take him to the best hospital. "
The Nepalese adventure, organised by Charity Challenge, involves a 12-day climb to an altitude of over 5,000 metres. Miss Denny has been hard at work training on the Malvern Hills, Snowdonia National Park and at the gym.
Steve Parry, spokesperson for the air ambulance said: "Alex recently came to our base at Strensham to meet the flight crew and publicise her exciting challenge. We are full of admiration for Alex who is undertaking a difficult and demanding trek in support of the County Air Ambulance. "
Miss Denny will leave on Friday, March 21. To sponsor her call 01684 592110.
