A GROUP of woman who spotted the appeal for a Worcester-based charity's £1million appeal in your Worcester News are doing their bit to raise funds for them.

The women, who are keen to help the Noah's Ark Trust, a charity which helps bereaved children, are encouraging people to dust off their dancing shoes and take part in a barn dance on Saturday.

Held at the Heritage Centre in Droitwich, the dance is open to people of all ages and all proceeds will be donated to the Noah's Ark Trust.

One of the organisers Leanne Day said she thought it was important to raise money for such a worthy cause and after reading about the £1m Towards a Brighter Future Appeal, decided to help.

Mrs Day said: "Being a mother of two pre-school age children I wanted to choose a local children's charity. After reading about the fantastic work they do for bereaved children on their website, it touched me. They give counselling and support and take groups of children on adventure days and weekends. It's a very worthwhile cause.

"We are a group of girls who raise money for the local community and our main charity this year is Noah's Ark."

Mrs Day, who is chairman of the Droitwich Ladies Circle, said she hoped it would be an enjoyable night for everyone.

"You don't have to know how to do it because one of the band members gets on the dance floor to help us along. It's a great way to burn off those extra pounds put on over Christmas. This is the fourth year we have done the barn dance and we usually sell about 70 tickets from which all of the profits go to charity."

The evening starts at 7.30pm with some dances, a hot supper and then more dancing.

There will be another break at about 9pm for a raffle, some games and further dancing. A bar will also be available.

Tickets cost £9.50 and can be bought by ringing Mrs Day on 01905 778526 or 07771986170 or e-mailing leanneday@talktalk.net.
