BARGAIN store Poundland has revealed its future in Worcester as the building remains closed because it is unsafe.
Shoppers are worried the city centre could lose Poundland for good after its months-long closure.
Poundland in Broad Street was forced to shut its doors while urgent work is being carried out on Angel House, owned by Crown Estates.
However, a Poundland spokesman has allayed fears the bargain shop would close for good.
The spokesman said: "We have no plans to leave the location.
"We understand the frustration, we do too, but we're working closely with the landlord to ensure the safety works are completed as quickly as possible."
Urgent work is being carried out at the building after it closed in May last year for renovations to begin.
However, after Storm Arwen in November the building was left in a hazardous condition and at risk of imminent collapse.
It led to the closure of a section of Broad Street for about a week while emergency works were carried out.
The complexity and length of the work has caused some shoppers to fear Poundland would choose to shut for good.
A spokeswoman from Crown Estates confirmed it was working closely with Poundland to ensure it can re-open.
Eight months on and there is still no confirmed date for when it will be able to welcome back customers.
She said: "Poundland is currently closed while we are carrying out some urgent works at Angel House
"We are working closely with Poundland, and all those affected, to ensure it can re-open as soon as possible
"Visitors can check our website and social media channels for updates."
Safety barriers have now been placed around Angel House on Broad Street and signs advertising shops in the lower section of the street.
Poundland also had a second store on The Shambles which closed two years ago.
