FLOOD water in Worcester continues to rise and will not peak until this afternoon.
This morning a spokeswoman from the Environment Agency warned that, while the river Severn in Bewdley peaked at 7.30pm last night - at 4.91 metres - water in Worcester is not expected to peak until later today and it could be as high as 5.45m above normal level.
The usual winter level at Diglis is 0.9m.
"In Worcester it is still going up," said the spokeswoman.
"We have two gauges, one in Worcester and one at Diglis, and at 6am this morning the Worcester gauge was 5.34m. It needs to reach between 5.35m and 5.45m before it peaks."
There is currently surface water on Hylton Road (A443) in St John's, Worcester. It is not known whether it will go over the flood barriers, which were put up by the Agency on Friday, January 11.
Some roads in Bewdley, which remains on a severe flood warning, have been closed due and here in Worcester, Severn Terrance, off Croft Road, has been closed off to vehicles since 7.15pm last night.
Other routes shut due to flooding include Hanley Road, New Street and Backfields Lane junction in Upton-upon-Severn, Norchard Lane in Peopleton and Shinehill Lane in South Littleton.
Authorities are keeping a close eye on the river in Upton, which is not expected to peak until tomorrow morning.
The public has been warned not to drive through floodwater - 2ft (60cm) of flowing water is enough to sweep away a car, not to walk in floodwater that is above knee level and not to allow children to play in flood water, which could be contaminated.
