MOTORISTS are facing lengthy delays on one of Worcester's major routes as road works are carried out.

Severn Trent is carrying out water works in Stanley Street and has put up temporary traffic lights at its junction with Bath Road, which have been causing chaos this week with tailbacks stretching as far as Worcester city centre at times.

The work is to facilitate the installation of a new sewer and is scheduled to last for around 16 weeks.

It comes on top of the activation on Monday of the new traffic lights installed in Bath Road to allow access to the new development at Diglis.
