PUPILS at a village school are celebrating after scooping a number of medals in a swimming contest.
Children in year 6 and 7 from St Barnabas CE First and Middle School, in Drakes Broughton, took part in the South Worcestershire Schools swimming gala at Four Pools in Evesham.
A spokesman from the school said: "The children performed excellently throughout the gala and after an exciting climax the boys and girls of year 6 finished first in the relays and were crowned overall victors, winning the school a magnificent trophy.
"The year 7 team also competed well but just missed out.
"However, all the children who took part are to be congratulated on their efforts, particularly the members of the winning team Ashley Gribble, Neave Phillips, Frances Turner, Sophie Beamont, Alex Griffin, Angus Evans, Christian Bennett and James Fincher."
Pupils from St Barnabas also took part in the South Worcestershire Schools six-a-side football competition recently.
The spokesman said: "Both the year 6 boys and girls teams played their best resulting in the boys team finishing the competition unbeaten.
"Their hard effort has earned them the chance to represent South Worcestershire in the County Finals at Pershore High School on Thursday."
