LITTLE Witley WI rounded off a successful 2007 with a traditional Christmas dinner in the Village Hall.
Many members and especially the committee worked hard to set the scene and create a festive atmosphere. We were treated to the wonderful singing of Margaret Peters who encouraged everyone to join in her medley of Christmas carols and songs. Thirty-two members attended this event and all left feeling very full, festive and full of good cheer. Three noble men put the icing on the cake by doing all the washing up throughout the evening and our grateful thanks go to them.
On December 18 WI members and villagers gathered together on a cold evening to sing carols to raise money for the Worcester Breast Cancer appeal. Thank you to everyone who supported this appeal which raised £330.
On January 9, we learnt what a great programme Margaret and Trish have compiled for 2008. Our first meeting in the New Year was led by Trish Law and the subject was Trish's Travels. She has made several visits to New Zealand and this was an account of her latest trip. On route she stopped off at Perth, Australia, and despite the chilly weather found Perth a vibrant city and well worth the trip. Trish's talk was fascinating as she recounted her exploits travelling in a hired car, with her sister, off the beaten track in New Zealand's North and South islands.
