THE December meeting was full of seasonal cheer. After the usual business matters we had a longer social time than usual with Christmassy refreshments, then a quiz. A week later, 15 of us attended a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings at a local hostelry, rounding off 2007 in style.
In January our first meeting of the New Year was a successful beginning.
Mrs Noble gave us a most interesting talk on Edward and Mrs Simpson. Although we knew about this fascinating period of our history, she filled us in with many details and tales of their indulgences and lavish, rather decadent lifestyle.
We had several invitations to other WIs, arrangements to be made for the AGM at Malvern and the Spring Rally at Stourport in April. Members were also asked for ideas for activities during the next months.
We began a trading stall where items can be bought and sold to help with fund-raising in addition to the popular raffle at every meeting. We also have tea or coffee and biscuits, although this time we had Sheila's buttered tea bread. We feel that, holding our meeting in the morning, we cannot indulge too much!
The meeting ended at noon. Next meeting is on February 13 at 10am with a talk on magic lantern shows. Details on 01905 454478. Visitors always welcome.
