A CAFE in the grounds of Worcester Woods Country Park has celebrated its first birthday since being taken over.
Owners Guy and Lynette Ward said Orchard Café has gone from strength to strength and put the success down to the fact the majority of their food is home-made, using ingredients from local suppliers.
Mr Ward, who is a chef, said: "A lot of people get a big surprise when they come up here. They're often expecting a greasy spoon and what they're getting is nice home-made food. We try to cook food that we would cook for our children. This is a country park and if you go out for a walk it's healthy so the food they get here should be healthy. I try to keep the food reasonably simple - it's not fancy, but it's wholesome."
Mr Ward said he hoped the business would keep improving.
"The first year has been fantastic," he said. "Last summer was crazy but hopefully it will be even better this year."
