A CHICKEN takeaway that had been rocked by a one-star food hygiene rating has now received the highest rating after inspectors returned.
Pepe's Piri Piri was given the rating - the second lowest which means major improvement was necessary - by Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspectors after the inspection on October 13.
Ratings are judged by FSA inspectors over the standards in the handling of food, how food is stored, how food is prepared, cleanliness of facilities and pest control, how food safety is managed and evidence staff know about food safety.
The original report into the Lowesmoor venue found "major improvement' was necessary in the 'management of food safety' category.
Franchisee owner Ifran Mazhar vowed at the time to appeal it, adding he expected five stars after a revisit.
"I would not compromise in any way on having poor hygiene standards, I eat food from there every day," he told us last month.
A reinspection was carried out on December 15 with it rising to five stars - which is now being displayed on the FSA website.
Elsewhere other new five stars have been announced. New five-star city businesses to make the list, and the date they were inspected, are:
Battenhall Nursery, Highfield Battenhall Avenue (December 16)
Elgars Coffee Shop & Licensed Restaurant, Reindeer Court, Mealcheapen (December 16)
Worcester City In Patients Timberdine Unit, Timberdine Close (December 16)

Top Barn Harvest Shop Ltd, Top Barn Farm, Worcester Road (December 9)
