WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has provided an update on the potential Omicron case at a city school.
The authority says there are Covid cases at Redhill School - but says to date none have been confirmed as the variant causing concern.
In an update Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health for Worcestershire said: “We have been advised of a small number of COVID-19 cases at Red Hill Primary School.
"To date, no cases of the Omicron variant have been confirmed at the school.
"Public Health in Worcestershire and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) in the West Midlands, are working closely with the school to help prevent any further spread. The potential cases and close contacts have all been quickly identified and are following public health guidance.
“We encourage anyone who is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 to get a PCR test without delay even if symptoms are mild.”
Suspected cases have a genetic marker that looks like Omicron but potentially may not be Omicron.
