A DEVOTED headteacher from a Worcester school has been nominated for a Worcestershire Education Award.
Spencer Morris, head at Redhill CE Primary School in Worcester, was described as "an outstanding headteacher" who offers "amazing support to pupils, parents and staff.
The nomination said: "He puts children and staff welfare above all and makes our school a very happy place to be.
"He constantly ensures all children's needs are met - nothing is ever too much trouble and he puts a great amount of time and efforts into all children.
"He also consistently ensures the happiness, safety and welfare of all children and staff."
Mr Morris has been nominated for the award before, being put forward for Headteacher of the Year in 2019.
Reacting to his nomination, he said: "All headteachers and all education staff in Worcester, and up and down the country, have to be acknowledged for their amazing resilience and total dedication throughout the pandemic.
"I am just one headteacher in this; I am fortunate because of the all of the great people I work with every day.
"The staff, pupils, governors and parents of Red Hill are a wonderful community to work alongside.
"One recent comment from our latest parent survey summed that up with "a happy, village-like school" - all of our children are a joy to work with.
"The past two years have been difficult for everyone, but we have all pulled together to keep everyone as safe as possible, whilst still providing education for all.
"It's been wonderful to welcome back our children this academic year; seeing them once again with their friends, learning and playing, has been both joyous and emotional.
"The staff team has been fantastic, whether manning key worker school, delivering food vouchers to some of our families, filtering through government changes in Covid legislation or dropping off packs of work to other learners.
"It's very kind to be put forward for this award, but this is recognition of the whole school staff's efforts.
"The award would be a whole school achievement."
