A DOG-owner assaulted a driver after he ran over his pet.
The owner hit the driver in the face after he apologised for what had happened.
It is not known whether the animal survived the incident in Ankerage Green, Lyppard Grange, Worcester, about 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 8.
Police are now trying to trace the owner, a white man wearing a grey jacket, although they do not have a description of the dog or know the breed.
However, they are contacting local veterinary surgeries.
A police spokesman said: "If the dog survived it could well have been treated by a vet. If this is the case, we are hopeful that when details of the assault are known someone will come forward from the practice to assist our enquiries."
Anyone who saw the incident, or believes they have useful information, can contact the police on 08457 444888, quoting 544S/080108. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
