CLIMATE activists staged another protest in Worcester this weekend.
Members of Extinction Rebellion held an "emergency room" stunt during the city's Christmas Fayre.
This was to highlight the health of the planet and demand a "citizen's assembly" to decide on climate action.
A team of ‘rapid response planet medics’ attended the Earth, which was being carried on a stretcher.
Crowds gathered to watch the performance as the medics tried to resuscitate the planet.
The protest took place in the Cornmarket, Broad Street and in Worcester's High Street.
Craig Welsby, a conservation ranger, took part in the action and said: "When people gather for Christmas this year, it is really important to keep talking about the climate and nature, and why urgent action is needed.
"It’s vital for all our futures to hold those in power to account.
"Our 'Planet Medics' action today serves as an alarm call to those in power that their failure to address this crisis is killing the Earth.
"While the medics battled to save the Earth, the public were told about the urgent need for action now, not in 30 years.
"Government, finance and the media need to tell the truth about the scale of the climate and ecological emergency we are facing, and they need to act now before we are out of time."
Another member of the protest was GP Sarah Benn, who said the medical theme of the protest struck a chord with her medical profession.
She said: "Here in the Midlands I see frail elderly people and those with pre-existing health conditions struggling with spells of sustained extreme summer heat.
"I also hear young people describing their deep anxiety about how climate change will affect their future.
"At the same time their parents face the worry of repeated flooding events due to more frequent extreme rainfall.
"All this has a damaging effect on mental health."
Extinction Rebellion is calling for a citizens assembly so members of the public can decide how to tackle the climate emergency.
The group states this is because not enough is being done by governments to end their reliance on fossil fuels.
