Motorcycling Santa’s will be delivering toys to a children’s hospice next week.
Dozens of people dressed as Father Christmas will ride to Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester as part of Santa's on a Bike.
The ride began in 2004 with just 12 participants but now there is four events taking place across the country with hundreds of people expected to take part.
Jennifer Long is organising the Midlands ride for the first time ever, having started motorcycling a decade ago.
She said: “This is my first year as event organiser for the area, so I am very new to all of the details involved.
“I've been a biker for ten years and I know we like nothing more than all getting together to raise money for good causes throughout the year.”
The ride will be in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice, with donations of money and toys both welcomed.
Ms Long added: “Santa’s on a Bike choose to support children’s hospices at this time of year in the hope of raising a smile to children and families at what may be difficult times, especially brought to light around the festive period.
“The children at Acorns Hospice are there either for short break stays or at the end of their lives. They have a range of complex medical conditions and many of them live with severe disability, it costs almost £10million to run the services.”
Bikers will gather at Gupshill Manor in Tewkesbury from 11am before setting off at 12.30pm on Saturday, December 11.
The group will ride down the A46, through Evesham and Pershore before meeting at the Timberdine on Bath Road to regroup ahead of the final sector to the hospice, with an expected arrival of 2pm.
This year is expected to be the biggest Midlands ride yet.
Ms Long said: “As far as I know last year there was around twenty riders taking part but hopefully the weather will stay on our side and much more event promotion this year will attract a record turnout, currently on our Facebook page around one hundred bikers have shown an interest.
“Even if you're not a biker be sure to come out and wave to the Santa’s as we pass!”
“We also have the support of Santa with his trike and sleigh this year to carry the gifts and donations to the hospice, the donations that are coming in are really amazing including twenty-four teddies donated by the Widow Sons Worcestershire along with raffle prizes donated by lots of local businesses to raise money on the day for which I can't thank people enough for the support given.”
