PUPILS at a Worcester school were reminded about road safety during assembly after a schoolboy was hit by a car.
The 13-year-old Nunnery Wood High School student collided with the green Ford Focus outside the school in Spetchley Road, Worcester, at 8.15am on Wednesday.
Ambulance staff took the year 8 pupil, who was conscious but suffering from a head injury, to Worcestershire Royal Hospital. He had been immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board.
The school's headteacher Alan Williams said he had not yet been given an update on the boy's condition but hoped he was recovering.
Mr Williams said: "We haven't had anything like this happen before as far as I know although Spetchley Road is quite busy because there's a school, a sixth form college and County Hall.
"We do a lot of road safety but this has really galvanised students as you can imagine.
"It's one thing to talk to students about it, and another for it to happen.
"We started assemblies to make them understand they have to be very careful when they are crossing any road."
