Droitwich Lido will be packed full of hardy souls looking to make a splash this Christmas.
This comes after bosses announced the lido will be opening on select days next month for brave swimmers to take the plunge.
The scheduled one hour sessions represent the first ever time the lido has opened its doors for winter swims.
A full schedule for the dips can be seen below:
- 4th & 5th December: 8am & 10am
- 11th & 12th December: 8am & 10am
- 18th - 22nd December: 8am & 10am
- 23rd December: 8am
Sessions will be available to book online eight days in advance so that everyone gets a chance to brave the cold.
The lido says they are to be treated like a wild swim, meaning while the pool will be chlorinated, it won't be heated.
Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre & The Lido said: "Cold water swimming has some incredible benefits to your physical and mental health.
"Apart from the obvious increased cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength, one of the benefits to these swims is amazing skin.
"Salt water is full with magnesium, calcium and potassium which is all great for the skin.
"The water is also a mild antiseptic and may encourage damaged skin to heal.
"By regularly cold water swimming, you can increase your tolerance to stress.
"The cold water creates a stress reaction in the body, which by regularly doing, can increase your tolerance to all types of stress. Other benefits include a self-esteem boost & post swim high!"
Swimmers will have to sign a disclaimer upon entry if they wish to take a dip.
The lido has also issued several tips for swimmers to ensure their safety in the chilly conditions, which can be found on their website.
