THE number of new coronavirus cases recorded in Worcestershire fell by 10 per cent in the last week according to the latest figures.
A total of 2,477 new cases were recorded in the county in the week up to November 4.
New infections in Worcester fell by nine per cent in the same week to 438 cases according to Public Health England.
The highest infection rate in the city was recorded in Warndon East area which covers the area including Cranham Drive, Windermere Drive and Grasmere Drive.
A total of 37 cases were recorded in Warndon East in the week – a rise of almost 50 per cent compared to the week before – giving the area an infection rate of 682 cases per 100,000 people.
As many as 44 new cases were recorded in Battenhalll and Diglis – a rise of almost 38 per cent compared to the week before – meaning the part of the city had an infection rate of 524 cases per 100,000 people.
Public Health England said 32 cases were recorded in St Peter’s meaning the infection rate was 602 cases per 100,000 people.
A total of 501 cases were recorded in Wychavon, which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich, in a week which saw new infections fall by 13 per cent across the district.
As many as 137 cases were recorded in Droitwich, 74 cases were recorded in Evesham and 21 cases were recorded in Pershore.
In the same week, a total of 326 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Malvern Hills in the week up to November 4 – a fall of three per cent compared to the previous seven days.
This included 46 cases in North Malvern, 20 cases in Malvern Wells and Priory, 21 cases in Malvern Link and nine new cases in Barnard’s Green.
The number of new cases fell by more than 30 per cent in Redditch in the week to 273.
A total of 459 cases were recorded in Bromsgrove in a slight increase compared to the week before.
The number of new coronavirus cases recorded in Wyre Forest in the week was 480 – a drop of five per cent.
