A man was rushed to hospital after being found drunk on the embankment of the River Severn.

Police, ambulance and fire crews were all called to St Mark's Close off Waverley Street at around 10.30am on Saturday, November 6 after concerns were raised for an individuals safety. 

Officers say they assisted a man in his 20s who was found intoxicated on the embankment at the rear of St Mark's Close.

He was then hurried to hospital for further treatment.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Police were called to St Mark's Close in Worcester at 10.35am on Saturday, November 6 following a concern for safety.

"Officers assisted a male who was then passed in to the care of the ambulance service."

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.28am on Saturday to reports of a patient down the embankment at St Mark's Close, Worcester.

"We sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene and assessed one patient, a man, and he was conveyed to hospital for further treatment."

A spokesman for Hereford and Worcester Fire service said: "A Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crew from Worcester Fire Station was called at 10.36am on 6 November to the rear of St Mark's Close in Worcester.

"An intoxicated man in his 20s on the embankment by the River Severn was handed over to the police who also attended, along with the ambulance service. The incident was marked as closed at 11.41am."
