A West Mercia Police officer has been sacked after being caught drink driving while off duty.
PC Jonathan Griffith was dismissed without notice for gross misconduct following an 'accelerated' hearing chaired today (November 5) by Chief Constable Pippa Mills.
The 46-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle while over the limit at Worcester Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 24.
This came after he reportedly turned up "unfit for duty" due to prior consumption of alcohol on Thursday, June 10.
At his misconduct hearing, PC Griffith, who was based at Worcester police station, was found to have breached two standards of professional behaviour as a policeman, Fitness for Duty and Discreditable Conduct.
Chief Constable Pippa Mills said: "The public, quite rightly, expect police officers and staff to maintain the highest standards of behaviour.
"Where behaviour falls below our professional standards disciplinary procedures will take place."
He has now been added to the College of Policing Barred List.
